TGS is a gas-insulated medium voltage switchgearrated for up to 24 kV, 630 A, and 20 kA/3s, used in secondary distribution. It can be equipped with:
- transformer protection using a fuse (function F),
- transformer and line protection using a vacuum circuit breaker (function V).
Compactness, a wide range of functions, ease of installation, and expandability make it a switchgear suitable for many locations in secondary distribution networks such as:
- public distribution,
- industry,
- infrastructure,
- renewable energy sources
Characteristics:
Switching devices are housed in a sealed stainless steel tank filled with SF6 gas, which has excellent dielectric properties. The use of SF6 as the insulating gas and the design of the TGS make it one of the most compact medium voltage switchgear available on the market.
The TGS switchgear has a 30-year service life without maintenance of the main circuits. The design ensures easy and intuitive operation:
- simplified maintenance of functional units and continuity of service for other units (LSC2 classification),
- no gas filling required on site during installation or during normal operation of the TGS,
- long service life,
- interlocking system to ensure correct sequence of switching operations,
- suitable for substations with both outdoor and indoor operation,
- equipped with voltage indicators as standard,
- wide cable compartment allowing installation of various cable types.
The non-expandable version of the TGS can consist of up to 5 bays installed in a single SF6 gas tank.
The expandable version of the TGS is intended for extending the switchgear with additional bays. There are three variants of the expandable TGS version: expansion from the right side, left side, or simultaneously from both sides of the switchgear. These versions offer the following benefits:
- highly economical solution for secondary distribution,
- installation in very limited space with a large number of bays (on-site assembly),
- additional TGS bays can be arranged in any order,
- further expansion is possible via a horizontal bushing connecting passage,
- flexibility and modularity of the expandable TGS version make this switchgear ideal for industrial applications and locations where reconfiguration during operation is likely
Technical Parameters and Operating Conditions of the TGS Switchgear:

1) Provided that the manufacturer of control, measurement, and protection equipment has not specified otherwise.
2) If the installation altitude of the switchgear exceeds 1000 m a.s.l., the insulation level of the switchgear should be adjusted with a factor in accordance with the guidelines of section 2.2.1 of standard PN-EN 62271-1.
